Inspired by Monica L. Miller's seminal work, "Slaves to Fashion," the accompanying Costume Institute exhibition delved into the evolution of Black style from the 18th century to the present, featuring over 250 pieces that narrate stories of resilience, creativity, and self-expression . Notable moments from the evening included Rihanna's subtle pregnancy reveal, Diana Ross's dramatic 18-foot train dress, and bold interpretations of suits and pinstripes by celebrities like Zendaya, Teyana Taylor, and Damson Idris
